Strumica, 21 March 2025 (MIA) - A large wildfire near Strumica that broke out on Friday has been localized by firefighters.

"Strumica firefighters have been receiving help from their colleagues from nearby towns. The fire is very big and we have done everything in our power to prevent it from spreading, but the strong winds are not helping us for now," said Strumica fire department commander Aleksandar Gudev.

Strumica Mayor Kostadin Kostadinov thanked the firefighters and all those who took part in the extinguishing activities, adding, "all arsonists would be held responsible."

Crisis Management Center director Stojanche Angelov has said the fire was caused by stubble burning.

According to unofficial information, the fire simultaneously broke out at several spots.
