Skopje, 30 March 2026 (MIA) — The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning signed earlier Monday its first collective agreement, marking a significant step toward respecting and protecting employee rights, environment authorities said.
According to an official press release, the agreement was signed by Environment Minister Muamet Hoxha and UPOZ Trade Union of Administration, Judiciary and Citizens' Associations representatives Trpe Deanoski and Martina Spasovska Toceva.
Under the deal, the ministry's staff will see their salaries go up by 7% this month, with further 7% increases scheduled for March 2027 and March 2028.

Beyond the raises, the workers will get better benefits, including extra pay for night shifts, holiday work and overtime.
The collective agreement also regulates travel expenses and "jubilee awards" for long-term service. In addition, the ministry has committed to stronger protections against workplace harassment and improved safety protocols.

There are also new rules and clearer guidelines for paid and unpaid leave, "which contributes to better work-life balance," the release said.
Minister Hoxha described the agreement as a result of "reciprocal commitment, dialogue and mutual respect." mr/
