Mickoski - Orbán: Macedonia and Hungary build strong strategic partnership, economy in focus

Skopje, 30 March 2026 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski met Monday in Budapest with Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orbán and delivered remarks at an event hosted by prestigitous academic, educational and research institution Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC).
Mickoski and Orbán reaffirmed the joint commitment to deepen the bilateral strategic partnership, with a focus on promoting economic cooperation, attracting new investments, increasing trade exchange and implementing projects of mutual interest, the Government said in a press release.

The PMs also discussed infrastructure connectivity, energy stability and regional cooperation, noting that in times of global challenges, strong partnerships are key in securing stability and development.
Interlocutors highlighted the importance of Hungary's support in the context of European integration, adding that the process should be based on principles and a merit-system.

Mickoski also stressed the importance of family values, tradition and national identity as the foundations of stable and prosperous societies, as well as Hungary's role in the management of the migrant crisis and the cooperation in ensuring regional security.
In the remarks before the MCC-hosted event, the PM referred to the importance of leadership, vision and courage in times of serious European and global challenges, saying that strong states are built on clear policies, stable institutions and consistent protection of national interests.

He said that Hungary is a model of a country that has succeded in ensuring its economic development, stability and national identity through clear vision and strong partnership, emphasizing PM Orbán's role as a courageous leader who takes decisions in his country's interest and contributes to the stability of the region and Europe.
Interlocutors also agreed that the bilateral partnership is based on trust, common values and concrete cooperation, with both countries building a strategic alliance focused on economic development, political support and joint management of contemporary challenges.

Mickoski thanked Orbán for Hungary's sincere and continued support that is crucial for the further enhancement of bilateral ties, adding that today's visit is an important step forward in strengthening the strategic partnership based on cooperation, trust and development, reads the press release.
