Dimitrieska-Kochoska: Macedonia entering new phase of economic transformation, clear focus on investments, fiscal stability

Istanbul, 11 December 2025 (MIA) - Macedonia is entering a new phase of economic transformation, with a clear focus on investments, digitization, and fiscal stability, said Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska in her introductory address at the opening of the Istanbul Economic Summit 2025 being held Thursday and Friday.

In a press release, the Ministry of Finance said the event brought together economic policymakers, international financial institutions, and representatives from the academic community and the business sector from the region and Europe, with the aim of examining key issues related to global economic changes, necessary reforms, and the building of new partnerships in a world filled with dynamic challenges.

In her address, the Minister stressed that modern economies are facing strong pressures, from geopolitical risks, to energy and technological shocks, which is why, she said, countries must actively work to create adaptable and resilient systems.

“The world is not the same. The geopolitical risks, energy challenges, and economic shocks have created a new global architecture. Today, global economic and political relations are moving with unprecedented dynamics,” Dimitrieska-Kochoska said, noting that this is precisely why countries, especially developing ones, must act proactively.

The Minister stressed the country is already building an economy based on fiscal discipline, predictability, and modernization, providing better conditions for the private sector and investors.

“The new global cooperation is not just a challenge – it is an opportunity. Macedonia must be a part of these processes with new investments, reforms, partnerships and a clear vision for the future,” the Minister said, stressing that the country has chosen to be an active participant in the creation of economic solution, and not a passive observer.

The focus of the Istanbul Economic Summit 2025 is aimed at economic policies for sustainable growth, strengthening economic cooperation between countries, and the development of new partnerships. The Summit will discuss the global economy, sustainable development and the green economy, energy and finance, digital transformation, as well as the role of education in attracting foreign investments.
