Speaker Gashi pays working visit to NATO HQ in Brussels

Skopje, 19 November 2024 (MIA) - Upon an initiative of the NATO Public Diplomacy Division, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi headed a delegation of MPs on a working visit to NATO HQ on Tuesday.
The delegation of MPs was composed of Nikola Micevski (VMRO-DPMNE), Oliver Spasovski (SDSM), Merita Kolci-Koxhaxhiku (VLEN), Arbana Pasholi (DUI), Pavle Arsovski (ZNAM), and the head of the Parliament Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Dragan Kovachki.
At the meeting with Boris Ruge, NATO Acting Deputy Secretary General, Speaker Gashi emphasized North Macedonia’s commitment to leading and promoting a policy of regional stability, Parliament said in a press release.
The meeting also focused on the unity and partnership with the European Union with the goal of enhancing its strategic complementarity with NATO, Parliament said.
Interlocutors exchanged positions on “maintaining momentum in the NATO – Ukraine relations through continued aid deliveries”.
“At the same time, they conveyed the firm position of the Republic of North Macedonia and its Parliament in support of the Open Door policy and the dedication to the NATO commitments that were adopted and reaffirmed at the Summit in Washington, regarding the allocation of more than 2 percent of GDP for defense,” the press release said.
As part of the visit, the delegation also had briefings with NATO top officials from the Political Affairs and Security Policy Division and Public Diplomacy Division.
