Skopje, 3 March 2025 (MIA) - Anytime we speak about other things we refer to our fundamental problem as well - it is high time that Macedonians and Bulgarians treated each other as close nations, so that we can find a solution through understanding and mutual respect, said President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova on Monday.

President Siljanovska Davkova was asked by reporters on her phone call with Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev, saying she wished to see a solution to the problem.

"I think our destiny to live next to each other and even understand each other was no coincidence, and this is what obligates us. We are going along this trajectory slowly but surely, showing understanding and respect. I wish that we find a solution," said Siljanovska Davkova.

On the possibility of a bilateral meeting, the President said one would surely happen but without putting a timetable for it.
