Perinski: Partnership with Hungary to contribute to enhancing municipal development

Skopje, 3 March 2025 (MIA) – Minister of Local Self-Government, Zlatko Perinski, met Monday with Tibor Navracsics, Hungary’s Minister for Public Administration and Regional Development, as part of the two-day visit to the Hungarian-Macedonian government summit in Budapest.
According to the Ministry for Local Self-Government, during the meeting, the two ministers discussed regional development, the sustainability of local governance systems, decentralization, and territorial organization in both countries, while also sharing and exchanging experiences and practices aimed at improving the functioning of local self-government in both countries.
They also shared experiences on the approach and organization of the Hungarian Ministry regarding the mechanisms it utilizes for regional development, the digitalization of local services, and the strengthening of municipal capacities.
“The ongoing cooperation and support from our Hungarian friends is extremely important for our country. Hungary has been a long-standing friend and partner in our reforms, and we are pleased to share their successful practices in areas that are of great significance for our local government and regional development. This meeting is yet another proof of the strong and continuous support we receive from Hungary, while also opening new opportunities for deepening cooperation between our countries,” Perinski said after the meeting.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of strengthening cooperation in networking our local communities within EU programs, which would contribute to promoting innovation and best practices at the local level.
“The shared experiences are of particular importance for improving the capacities of local administration and regional development in our country, and intensifying cooperation is an important step in strengthening our partnership with Hungary as well as in achieving the country’s European ambitions,” Perinski added.
He briefed Navracsics on the progress of the financial support project for infrastructure projects, one of the key measures of our government aimed at enhancing municipal development, which is being implemented with funds secured through the Hungarian loan.
