Mickoski calls on civil society organizations to participate in building a higher quality national education system

Skopje, 25 October 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, in cooperation with the International Republican Institute - IRI, held a meeting with several non-governmental organizations discussing education and youth participation, as part of a project on dialogue between the Government and the civil society.

Mickoski pointed out that education is a pillar of society and is therefore among the Government's top priorities, the Government said in a press release.

"Without quality education, there are no quality doctors, teachers, economists and so on. We are determined to make major changes and I call on the civil society to actively participate in creation and implementation. It is a common obligation to create better conditions for the education of young people, and thus a better future in our country," PM Mickoski told youth organizations.

Mickoski stated with regret that education has significantly declined in the past, adds the press release.

"Every idea is welcome and that is why we organize these thematic discussions with the civil society," said Mickoski.

He added that the Government works transparently and creates conditions for civil society organizations to participate even more actively in the development of the state.

The PM called on the organizations to support the process and to jointly create a strategy for the development of the country, with a time frame that will be large enough to enable tracing a path and achieving results on that path.

During the debate, some of the youth organizations presented their proposals for measures, projects and systemic solutions to keep young people in the country and build and realize their potential here.

All other associations were also invited to submit their initiatives to the department for cooperation with the civil society at the Government, as well as to the relevant ministries.

Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, Minister of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, Fatmir Limani, and Minister of Local Self-Government, Zlatko Perinski, also addressed the debate.

"The common view is that the relations with the civil society sector are developing in a good direction, and the policies that are created through mutual cooperation are expected to give a positive outcome," the press release reads.
