Mickoski and Gerapetritis hold brief exchange during Berlin Process Summit

Athens, 14 October 2024 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and the Greek Foreign Minister had a brief meeting on the sidelines of the Berlin Process Summit, as shown in photographs shared on the platform X by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MIA’s Athens correspondent reports.

According to the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gerapetritis had brief exchanges at the Berlin Process Summit and shared photographs; aside from meeting with Mickoski, he also talked with his Macedonian counterpart, Timcho Mucunski.

Last month, the two foreign ministers held their first meeting in New York during the UN General Assembly.

The delegation of North Macedonia at the Berlin Summit of Heads of Government from Western Balkan countries, part of the Berlin Process, is headed by the Prime Minister and includes Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski, Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski, and Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani.

Prime Minister Mickoski shared on Facebook that he participated in the first session of the Berlin Process Summit, which is focused on the regional cooperation and the common regional market, describing it as “a form for closer cooperation and the implementation of the economic development strategy for the Balkan countries.”

“We must find our interest in opening new opportunities and market for our companies, new forms of cooperation, and ensuring a more secure future,” Mickoski wrote.

Participants in the meeting traditionally include the six countries of the Western Balkans, their supporting countries Austria, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, the United Kingdom, Poland, as well as Greece and Bulgaria since 2019, along with the rotating presidency of the EU Council, the Regional Cooperation Council, CEFTA, and the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO).

The government reported that Prime Minister Mickoski is expected to hold several bilateral meetings.
