Kyiv, 18 February 2025 (dpa/MIA) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has postponed his visit to Riyadh following talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the Saudi capital on Tuesday.
"They can discuss whatever they want, but no decision can be made without Ukraine on how to end the war in Ukraine," Zelensky said at a press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara.
"I don't want any coincidences and therefore I am not going to Saudi Arabia," Zelensky, who was not invited to the meeting between Lavrov and Rubio, said.
Instead, Zelensky said he would travel to Riyadh on March 10.
Lavrov and Rubio spent more than four hours on Tuesday discussing, among other things, an end to the war in Ukraine.
Zelensky originally planned to travel directly to Saudi Arabia after his visit to Turkey.
