Skopje, 30 January 2025 (MIA) - At a Q&A session in Parliament on Thursday, Minister of Health Arben Taravari said the adoption of the constitutional amendments to unblock the country’s Euro-integrations was one of the points of agreement with the coalition partners in the Government.
Opposition MP Arbana Pasholli from the DUI-led European Front asked the Minister whether there is an agreement between the coalition partners on the constitutional amendments and defining the Albanian language as an official language, in line with the promises made by Taravari’s party during the campaign, and how long it would take for these things to be implemented. In response, Taravari accused DUI of failing to begin negotiations during their seven terms in power, and stressed the opening of EU negotiations “will be much easier with the current Government”.
“It is true, the negotiations with the EU were one of the points during the negotiations with our partner VMRO-DPMNE. I am very glad, because we are doing our utmost. I am happy that the Prime Minister is pro-European and has great relations with the EU and the US. The opening of negotiations will be much easier with the current Government than with DUI who have people on the ‘blacklist’. You should reform your party, reset it and ground yourself, and before speaking about others you should first take a look at yourselves. I continue to believe that the Alliance for Albanians, alongside VLEN, will work with this Government towards the beginning of negotiations with the EU, but also towards the removal of the term ‘20 percent’ [which refers to the Albanian language] from the Constitution. This is being done in coordination with our main partner in the Government,” Taravari said.
