Skopje, 4 February 2025 (MIA) - The second public call for the funding of capital infrastructure projects in municipalities will be published next week, after the Government launched on Tuesday the procedure for the call that will make Mden 15 billion available to the municipalities.
“The criteria for participation will largely be the same as the first call but also facilitated in terms of the deadline for the submission of documents and the beginning of the public procurement procedure. Decisions will be made on the basis of two criteria: per capita of residents in each municipality based on the last census, and the completeness of the necessary project documentation alongside all necessary permits and approvals needed for the beginning of public procurement,” Minister of Local Self-Government Zlatko Perinski said at a press conference Tuesday.
All municipalities can apply with one or more infrastructure projects, the deadline for submissions is April 30, 2025.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the Mden 15 billion that are being made available are a significant sum of money for the construction of capital projects “such as schools, kindergartens, parks, water networks”.
“This is the historically largest investment by the central government in the municipalities which will directly lead to better lives and a higher living standard,” Mickoski said.
The PM recalled that 78 municipalities with 288 projects received support of over EUR 73 million in the first call.
The process for the allocation of the funds will be supervised by a body led by the Ministry of Local Self-Government.
Minister Perinski said the goal of the call is to improve the living conditions of the citizens.
“There is not even a drop of politics in this, as evidenced by the results of the first call, where a dozen of the funded projects are by municipalities that have mayors from opposition parties,” Perinski said.
