Over half of inspected facilities not meeting minimum technical requirements, over 80 percent to be closed: PM

Skopje, 19 March 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski says more than 60-70 facilities have been inspected, even those with valid licenses, but more than half of them do not meet the minimum technical requirements, as per the State Market Inspectorate.

PM Mickoski told Sitel more than 80 percent of these businesses will be closed, while those that continue to operate would have to fully meet the minimum requirements.

The PM said he has talked to the Association of Local Self-Government Units (ZELS) president, asking him to urgently schedule a steering board meeting, so that all businesses under municipal jurisdiction are checked, while inspectors go out and carry out strict controls of facilities.

"Laws will be changed, this must be resolved systemically, but after we first solve this case," says Mickoski.

On the Kochani tragedy, he says no one will be spared and all those who acted unlawfully, regardless of the party, ethnicity or religion, will be held accountable.
