Skopje, 31 January 2025 (MIA) - Industrial production in 2024 compared to 2023 has dropped by 3.6%, whereas industrial production in December 2024 compared to the same month in 2023 dropped by 1.4%, said the State Statistical Office on Friday.

The industrial production in the section Mining and quarrying in December 2024, in comparison with December 2023, decreased by 10.0%, in the section Manufacturing it decreased by 1.1%, while in the section Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply it increased by 5.7%.

The decrease in the section Manufacturing is mostly due to decreased production in the divisions, Manufacture of textiles, Manufacture of wearing apparel, Manufacture of paper and paper products, Manufacture of rubber and plastic products, Manufacture of other nonmetallic mineral products, Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c., Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and Manufacture of furniture.

The industrial production by Main Industrial Groupings in December 2024, in comparison with December 2023, was lower in Capital goods by 20.1%, while higher in Energy by 2.4%, Intermediate goods, except energy by 3.7%, Durable consumer goods by 14.7% and Non-durable consumer goods by 4.9%.
