Five patients discharged from hospital, two returning from Lithuania and Sweden, four in critical condition: minister

Skopje, 29 March 2025 (MIA) – Out of 21 patients treated in hospitals in Skopje after being injured in a deadly fire that broke out in a nightclub in Kochani on March 16, five will be discharged today. Four patients are in critical condition after the conditions of two patients worsened again. There are still patients that are intubated in serious condition, which is not life threatening, Health Minister Arben Taravari said Saturday.

Speaking at a news conference, he said 89 patients are being treated in other countries. Two people will return after receiving treatment in Lithuania and Sweden. They will be immediately admitted and examined in local hospitals from which they were sent according to a protocol.  Before being discharged, they will stay in hospital for 24 hours.

There is no announcement that other patients will come back home from abroad tomorrow, but on Monday, five will return for sure, said Taravari.

“Of the patients receiving treatment at home, six are at the clinical complex, six at the City Hospital and five and the September 8 General Hospital. Four people are treated in private hospitals. Five people will be discharged today and send home after their condition improved. A total of 16 patients will remain in hospitals for further treatment,” the minister said.
