Drop of exports and imports in 2024: statistics

Skopje, 6 February 2025 (MIA) - The total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in the period January-December 2024 amounted to EUR 7 781.2 million, a 6.5% decrease compared to the same period the previous year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was EUR 11 062.4 million, or 0.8% less than the same period in 2023. Trade deficit in the period January-December 2024 was EUR 3 281.2 million, the State Statistical Office said on Thursday. 

Import coverage by export in the period January-December 2024 was 70.3%. 

The external trade by products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, parts of the seats of subgroup 821.1 and other supported catalysts. In the imports, the most significant products are petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form, platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form and motor vehicles for the transport of persons.

According to the total external trade volume, the most important trade partners of the Republic of North Macedonia were Germany, Great Britain, Greece, China and Serbia, said the State Statistical Office.
