Skopje, 20 March 2025 (MIA) – Australian Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Penny Wong has offered condolences for the victims in a fire that broke out in a nightclub in Kochani, killing 59 people and injuring 178.

“Australia is deeply saddened by the tragic nightclub fire in North Macedonia that has claimed more than 50 lives. We send our heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones, and we wish a swift recovery to those injured,” Wong wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Funerals of the victims of deadly nightclub fire will be held today in Kochani, Shtip, Probishtip, Obleshevo, Strumica and Skopje. Of those injured, 101 burn patients have been flown abroad for treatment.
