Skopje, 23 March 2025 (MIA) - The week-long mourning period for the Kochani tragedy ends today but the fair and thorough investigation will continue with great intensity, said Government Spokeswomen Marija Miteva and Venera Ljatifi Azizi on Sunday.
Miteva urged against speculations and manipulative narratives while abusing the Kochani tragedy, since the investigation has been comprehensive, 34 people have already been detained and it is still not finished.
"We must allow the law enforcement agencies to do their investigation thoroughly and fairly. We would not want to see it hindered in any way - by calls for destabilization or various scenarios that would harm the process in any way. We must all come out stronger from this and justice must prevail. This Government was elected to stop the circle of indifference, renew trust where it was lost. We will not accept excuses that leave citizens unprotected on so many occasions. We will act where so many stayed silent. At this moment of grief, we are standing together with the affected families and we are promising urgent measures. Our commitment is clear - justice for the affected, transparency in every step and urgent reforms that ensure this never happens again," said Miteva.
Ljatifi-Azizi said the tragic event has shocked the entire country, uniting it in pain and sorrow that goes beyond words. She said the payment of the funds donated through the Red Cross for the victims' families would begin on Monday, while adding that the investigation would continue with great intensity.
"The Government's commitment to support those affected and find the truth behind this tragedy will continue. The investigation into this tragic event continues with full commitment from all institutions. The Government is resolute in making sure that all those responsible are held accountable for their actions. No one will be able to hide from this and justice will be served. Amid this great pain, you are not alone, the state is right beside you, not only today but until the end of this process, until we literally clear everything up," noted Ljatifi-Azizi.
