Skopje, 19 March 2026 (MIA) — The average family of four needs Mden 67,818 (EUR 1,100) to cover minimal living expenses in March, or Mden 436 more than in February, according to the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia.

According to the federation's estimate of the bare necessities for an average household, Mden 25,292 is needed to cover to basic monthly food costs.

The estimated minimal cost of personal hygiene items and household cleaning products is approximately Mden 2,682. Minimal transportation costs amount to Mden 4,865. For clothing and footwear, an average family needs at least 6,024 denars, for entertainment at least 5,592 denars, and for healthcare – at least 1,185 denars.

"Living in a 60-square-meter rented apartment, a family of four’s basic expenses total Mden 83,193 in March," the federation said.

According to the latest estimates, minimal living costs increased by Mden 2,326 in the first three months of 2026 alone. mr/
