Skopje, 19 March 2026 (MIA) - The Ministry of Education and Science continues to invest in the improvement of the infrastructure for the purpose of better education and enhancement of the pupils and students' standards.
The rehabilitation of student dormitories will continue in 2026, along with an overhaul of resource centers in state schools, which represent the backbone of inclusivity of the national education system, the Ministry of Education and Science said in a press release.
The KfW bank, supported by the European Union through the Western Balkans Investment Framework, will provide EUR 40 million for the second stage of the project for energy-efficient rehabilitation of the seven student dormitories. In addition, a EUR 1.25 million grant through the Regional Energy Efficiency Programme (REEP) for the Western Balkans will be used for energy controls, projects and tenders for energy-efficient rehabilitation of resource centers.

Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska, Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska Kochoska and Pablo Obrador Alvarez, Head of KfW Energy and Mobility Division for Southeast Europe and Turkey, signed the agreements on the use of the funds.
The investment is a significant step forward in enhancing the living and learning conditions of young people in Macedonia, strengthening inclusivity, while raising energy efficiency of public buildings and significantly reducing CO₂ emissions, reads the press release.
