Ukraine receives further $1.1 bn in financial aid from IMF

Kiev, 23 December 2024 (dpa/MIA) – Ukraine has received a further cash injection of $1.1 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The funds have already been transferred to Ukrainian accounts and will be used for important budget expenditures, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal wrote on Telegram on Monday.

It is the sixth tranche of a joint programme from which the country has already received $9.8 billion.

Ukraine has been receiving unprecedented support from Western countries in the form of money and arms since February 2022, when Russia launched its full-scale invasion.

In November, Shmyhal announced that Ukraine had already received more than $100 billion in financial aid from abroad since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
