Washington, 29 January 2026 (dpa/MIA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to a one-week pause in attacks on Kiev and other Ukrainian cities, US President Donald Trump said on Thursday.

Trump cited the extreme cold in Ukraine as the reason for his initiative with Putin. He said he personally requested the pause in attacks.

There was initially no confirmation from Moscow.

It was not clear when exactly the supposed pause in attacks might begin from Trump's statements during a Cabinet meeting in Washington.
