Washington, 23 April 2025 (dpa/MIA) - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not participate in peace talks on Ukraine in London on Wednesday, the White House confirmed on Tuesday.
State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said Rubio was a busy man.
"And in this particular instance, while the meetings in London are still occurring, he will not be attending," she told a media briefing.
"But that is not a statement regarding the meetings; it's a statement about logistical issues in his schedule."
Bruce said US Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg would attend the meeting.
"We look forward to hearing back from him about whether or not we've had some success in London," she said.
The meeting will be hosted by British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
It comes after a round of talks in Paris last week, which saw Rubio and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff meet European politicians, including Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
It remained unclear whether Witkoff would attend the meeting in London as well.
