Skopje, 21 March 2026 (MIA) - On the occasion of March 21 - the International Day of Forests, Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Muamet Hoxha said a public debate on a new law on nature protection will begin next month.

According to him, the legislation bolsters the protection of natural ecosystems, with a particular emphasis on the preservation of forest areas.

Forests represent one of the most important pillars of the country's natural wealth. In addition to being home to rich biodiversity, forests provide clean air and water and play a key role in mitigating the effects of climate change. The integral protection and strategic management of these resources are essential for maintaining the natural balance and ensuring the ecological stability of the country.

The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning calls for active involvement of the competent institutions, professional community and civil society sector in the upcoming consultative process. Nature protection is a shared social responsibility and a direct investment in the future, which is why a broad contribution is necessary in creating a quality and comprehensive legal solution that will respond to modern environmental challenges.
