Skopje, 3 February 2026 (MIA) - Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski launched his visit to the United States by meeting representatives of The MITRE Corporation, one of the most influential and credible institutions that works together with the administration in the field of cybersecurity by operating several Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs).

The meeting tackled the development of secure digital infrastructure, including AI and new technologies, with a focus on confidentiality and validation, cybersecurity and national cyber resilience towards protecting critical infrastructure and national platforms, digital management and data management for institutional digital maturity and interoperability, as well as areas of high-level security standards - aviation, safety and healthcare, the Ministry of Digital Transformation said in a press release.

Minister Andonovski met with MITRE Senior Vice-President Beth Meinert, as well as Vice-President Yosry Barsou and expert Shamik Das, discussing ways to build trust in the digital state, setting clear rules of responsibility and security, and how institutions can make better decisions based on data, standards and measurable results.

The Macedonian delegation, also including Government Secretary General Igor Janushev and Minister of Local Self-Government Zlatko Perinski, also met with Microsoft representatives, led by Global Managing Partner for Cybersecurity Services, Kozeta Garrett, discussing current challenges and opportunities for enhancement of cybersecurity, strengthening the resilience of public systems and support for digital transformation, reads the press release.

The delegation will also take part in the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington on Thursday.
