Skopje, 20 February 2026 (MIA) - The minimal consumer basket in February 2026 stands at Mden 67.382 (EUR 1.093), up by Mden 969 over the one in January, said the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) on Friday.

The cost of food and beverages in the minimal consumer basket stands at Mden 25.156 (EUR 408), up from January’s Mden 24.211 (EUR 393).

The union said the rise of the minimal consumer basket has already offset March’s adjustment of the minimum wage in just the first two months of the year.

“In just two months, a family is poorer by Mden 2.000. Over 24 months – the same period during which the government refused to raise the minimum wage – the value of the union’s minimum basket has increased by more than Mden 10.000. That’s why, instead of arguing at the expense of workers, political parties should stand with them, vote for a minimum wage of EUR 600, and raise all other wages by at least Mden 6.000,” SSM President Slobodan Trendafilov said.
