Erdoğan offers condolences to Siljanovska Davkova and Mickoski over Kochani fire victims

Skopje, 18 March 2025 (MIA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has sent letters of condolences over the people who died in the deadly Kochani fire to President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova and to Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski.

A letter of condolences was also sent by the Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski, said the Embassy of Türkiye to the Republic of North Macedonia.

“It is with deep sorrow that I received the news of the people killed and injured after a fire broke out in the town of Kochani, North Macedonia. I express condolences to Your Excellency and to all the people in friendly North Macedonia, primarily to the loved ones of the victims. I wish speedy recovery of the injured,” said Erdoğan’s letter.

On Monday, Turkish Ambassador Fatih Ulusoy signed in the book of condolences open at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in Skopje. In a meeting with the Ministry’s state secretary Elena Kuzmanovska, he also offered condolences and wished swift recovery of the injured patients.

“Like in the past, Türkiye stands ready to help the friendly and brotherly people of North Macedonia,” said the Embassy’s statement.

The Turkish flag has been lowered to half-mast at the Turkish Embassy in honour of the Kochani fire victims.
