Skopje, 1 March 2025 (MIA) – The Macedonian Handball Federation elected on Saturday Aleksandar Stefanov as its new president. Stefanov, who is currently member of the executive board, will head the national governing body of handball for the next four years.
Stefanov received full support at the regular Electoral Assembly held in Skopje after being confirmed as the only candidate. He is to replace long-serving president of the Macedonian Handball Federation, Zhivko Mukaetov.
"My involvement in handball spans 26 years, as a former player and part of HC Butel. For me, handball has been and remains the greatest passion, as well as motivation to continue to improve and promote Macedonian handball," said Stefanov.
The change of president comes after Mukaetov stepped down from the post, which he led with great success for the past 12 years, raising the standards of handball in the country.
"In the 12 years that this team has been in office, we have not only managed to achieve what we set out to do, but we have also dealt with numerous challenges to which we have paid due attention, in order for Macedonian handball to function at an enviable level," Mukaetov said.
