Skopje, 16 April 2026 (MIA) - The Government measures have managed to soften the impact of the crisis as much as possible, said Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski on Thursday.
Deputy PM Nikoloski expressed hope that the crisis would soon end, considering the positive news coming from the Middle East.
"This is an enormous challenge we have been facing. The Government has taken urgent measures, the country currently has the cheapest fuel across the region and there are no supply interruptions as other states have been facing. The Skopje and Ohrid airports are operating regularly, the Pristina airport is also procuring fuel from Macedonian suppliers, so we are softening the crisis impact as much as we can," Nikoloski told reporters.
According to him, the consumption of kerosene at the two airports has increased.
"If we had blocked the supply, the Pristina airport would have closed. As per the law, reserves should be available for 60 days, while our kerosene reserves are sufficient for 90, and they are supplemented daily. Therefore, supply is regular and there are no flight cancellations at both airports," said Nikoloski.
The Deputy PM is visiting the Pelagonija region, focusing on the Prilep-Bitola highway, the Farish-Prilep expressway, the Bitola ring road, the Bitola heating system, the Prilep-Bitola gas distribution, as well as the inter-city train project.
