Kiril Pejchinovikj high school in Tetovo reopened after renovation

Tetovo, 31 January 2026 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska, Tetovo Mayor Bilal Kasami and other officials attended Saturday the opening of the renovated Kiril Pejchinovikj high school in Tetovo. The high school, a two-building compound over 100 years old, has been in renovation since July 2025 with a donation of EUR 800,000 from a private company.

"Today we are here to reopen these two buildings, which have long been icons of the city of Tetovo, some of the most beautiful buildings, unfortunately long forgotten and left to stand the test of time. Therefore, allow me, on behalf of all the students, all the citizens of Tetovo, to express my great gratitude to Prime Minister Mickoski, who personally facilitated this donation, bringing these two buildings back to life, back to the students," said Mayor Kasami.

Minister Janevska said huge investments in education are underway in Tetovo that will contribute to a better quality of education.

"I am highly satisfied with being able to witness firsthand today that the students and teachers of the Kiril Pejchinovikj high school are receiving the most modern infrastructural working conditions, which also means greater success in their work. I would like to thank the socially responsible companies that, together with the Prime Minister, provided a donation for this wonderful facility," Janevska said.

Prime Minister Mickoski stressed that he hopes for more successful projects to be implemented in the future. He wished success to the students and teachers who will study and work in the renovated high school.

"I just want to express my satisfaction with what we see today. In just a few months of deep, focused commitment, what may have seemed impossible before is reality today.  I want to thank the Mayor, the councillors from the Municipality of Tetovo who supported this project, the Ministry of Education, all those who wish Tetovo well, and the people of Tetovo who have been part of the many projects that are being implemented in the Municipality of Tetovo in the past period," said Mickoski.

Macedonian language classes are taught in these two buildings. The first building now has seven renovated classrooms, an IT classroom, two toilets, a teacher's office, a library and two additional offices. The second building has six classrooms, a teacher's office, a toilet, science classrooms and a small sports hall.

Macedonian language classes at the Kiril Pejchinovikj high school have not been held in the central building since 2001, as it was abandoned due to lack of site protection. The high school students attended classes in other buildings across the city during that time.

The two-building compound was built in the 1912-1913 period.
