Rasadnik fire extinguished by 15 firefighters with eight fire trucks

Skopje, 3 September 2024 (MIA) — All electricity is back in Kisela Voda after the fire that broke out late Tuesday afternoon in Rasadnik on Boris Trajkovski Blvd was put out, according to the Skopje Fire Department chief Zvonko Tomevski.

Tomevski told MIA that it took 15 firefighters and eight fire trucks to extinguish the fire that was first reported at 4:06 pm.

No one was injured in the fire, but there was material damage, he said. "The fire burned dry grass, bushes, car tires and trees," Tomevski said.

He said the fire had spread in many directions but firefighters prevented it from reaching any buildings.

"It was brought under control and completely extinguished in a short time," he said, adding that firefighters were monitoring hot spots for potential reignition.

Earlier in the day, Crisis Management Center head Stojanche Angelov said the Rasadnik fire was spreading but there was no danger of it reaching the surrounding buildings. He said there was no cause for alarm, despite the thick smoke that could be seen from all sides of the city. mr/
