Skopje, 9 November 2022 (MIA) – The Ministry of the Interior said that Wednesday’s bomb threats in nine Skopje schools were determined to be false following police checks. “The Ministry of the Interior informs the public that the bomb threats reported by nine schools in Skopje have been confirmed false following the completion of all necessary checks. Immediately after the report was received, measures were taken by police officers to safely evacuate the schools, after which detailed checks were carried out by the anti-terror teams and it was determined that the threats are false,” wrote the Ministry in an online post. Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski said earlier that an extensive investigation is underway, which is being carried out in several directions and which includes the Agency for National Security, the Anti-Terrorism Department and foreign partners. Spasovski said that they know where the emails are being sent from and that these are hybrid attacks present in the entire region. “These are typical hybrid attacks not only present in our country but in the entire region. We know where the emails are coming from. The Ministry is operating at full capacity and we will overcome this issue,” said Spasovski. In an answer to a journalist’s question earlier in the day, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski also assessed that the bomb threats are a part of a strategy of hybrid attacks and that it is no coincidence that schools are targeted because people are the most sensitive when it comes to schools. ad/ba/
