Skopje, 24 July 2023 (MIA) - Izet Mexhiti, who recently left DUI and announced the formation of a new movement, met Monday with Besa and Alternativa leaders, Bilal Kasami and Afrim Gashi respectively, discussing the principles of their future cooperation in unifying the opposition in the ethnic Albanian bloc.

"As we said before, we will work on unifying the voice of the opposition in the country. Today's meeting with Kasami and Gashi in the Parliament focused on the principles of our cooperation. Our sincere journey continues! Good luck!," Mexhiti wrote in a Facebook post.

Kasami also posted on Facebook that the meeting was very constructive.

"We discussed the idea for cooperation and integration in creating a united opposition front, which is a necessity on the Albanian political scene. We discussed the next steps for fruitful cooperation and more details will be available in the coming days," wrote the Besa leader.

Gashi said the meeting tackled the offer that would be further enlarged in the pre-election programme.

"The avalanche has already started. On to elections, on to a new government," wrote the Alternativa leader.

The meeting also referred to the constitutional amendments, with Mexhiti saying they would support them, and Gashi noting "we will not block the country's Euro-integration".
