Kovachevski: Open Balkan shows cooperation and respect of EU freedoms
Skopje, 3 September 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski has highlighted the involvement of the Government in the establishment of the Open Balkan regional initiative aimed to increase economic cooperation on the path of the three countries to European Union membership.
In an interview with RTS, PM Kovachevski says Open Balkan is achieving its objective, which is to show Europe that regional countries can cooperate among each other while implementing the four freedoms the EU is based on – free movement of capital, people, goods and services.
“We already have agreements in place that are being implemented, such as phytosanitary, veterinary and other security controls of food products. Second, an agreement has been signed over the inter-connection of national portals to enable workers from the three countries to be hired by companies across the area without any red tape,” says Kovachevski.
He adds efforts are also invested in the joint promotion in the field of culture and other sectors, thus increasing economic cooperation and improving the well-being of citizens.
