Skopje, 26 October 2022 (MIA) — Today is a big day for North Macedonia and the Macedonian people. Today we signed the Frontex agreement in the Macedonian language, without any footnotes, any explanations, any asterisks. This is the promise I had made and kept, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said at the joint press conference held with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday evening following the signing. According to PM Kovachevski, the status agreement with the European Border and Coast Guard Agency was the first official agreement signed between North Macedonia and the EU that was prepared in the Macedonian language as well as all of the EU's languages. “This has exposed the destructiveness of those who had unscrupulously lied with megaphones that this would not happen,” Kovachevski said. “Their lies fell through. Our citizens saw through them and saw for the umpteenth time who is a reliable partner, and who uses lies and manipulations. Today, the Macedonian language is being used loud and clear in the official statements of official European representatives and is being equally represented with all other EU languages,” he said. He urged the opposition in Parliament to unite for the sake of the country's European future and support the negotiations with the EU, including the adoption of the constitutional changes after the screening process ends. mr/
