Skopje, 13 May 2024 (MIA) - The German Embassy in Skopje has congratulated Gordana Siljanovska Davkova on assuming her role as the first female president of North Macedonia, calling it a "historic moment."

"A historic moment: Congratulations to President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova for assuming her role as the first female president of North Macedonia! We look forward to the further development of the trusting cooperation and friendship between Germany and North Macedonia on the way to our common European future," the Embassy wrote on Facebook on Monday.

President Siljanovska Davkova was inaugurated Sunday night, where she gave a solemn statement before the Parliament, marking the start of her five-ear term as the new head of state.

As the sixth president since the county's independence and the first female president, Siljanovska Davkova succeeded Stevo Pendarovski after winning the elections on May 8. ssh/sk/
