September wages in primary and secondary education 15 percent higher
- September wages in primary and secondary education will be higher by 15 percent. The president of the Independent Trade Union for Education, Science and Culture (SONK), Jakim Nedelkov, and the Minister of Education and Science, Jeton Shaqiri, signed an agreement on Friday.
Skopje, 22 September 2023 (MIA) - September wages in primary and secondary education will be higher by 15 percent. The president of the Independent Trade Union for Education, Science and Culture (SONK), Jakim Nedelkov, and the Minister of Education and Science, Jeton Shaqiri, signed an agreement on Friday.
"September wages in primary and secondary education are higher by 15 percent. We continue further by signing the collective agreements for primary, secondary and higher education," the Trade Union leader posted on Facebook.
Education employees will receive 10 percent increase with their September wages in accordance with the General Collective Agreement for employees in the public sector, and another 5 percent increase, additionally agreed upon in the negotiations between SONK and the Education Ministry.
Nedelkov recently told MIA that SONK is in continuous negotiations with the Ministry of Education and Science over education workers to receive with their September wages an increase in addition to the 10 percent due according to the General Collective Agreement.
An additional increase is certain, Nedelkov stressed at the beginning of the school year, and SONK is negotiating with the Education Ministry over the percentage.
