Osmani – Dendias meeting on sidelines of UN General Assembly
Athens, 18 September 2022 (MIA) – North Macedonia’s and Greece’s Foreign Ministers, Bujar Osmani and Nikos Dendias respectively are set to meet on September 22 on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, MIA’s Athens correspondent reported on Sunday.
Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release on Sunday that FM Nikos Dendias from Monday, September 19 to Wednesday, September 23, will have a series of bilateral and multilateral contacts, at which “apart from topics pertaining to the strengthening of bilateral relations, issues of regional and global interest, including Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the energy crisis, developments in North Africa, the South-Eastern Mediterranean, the Western Balkans, as well as the promotion of the Greek candidacy for a seat on the UN Security Council for the 2025-26 term, our candidacy for the Human Rights Council for the 2028-30 term and the Presidency of the UN General Assembly in 2035, will be discussed.”
Among the already scheduled meetings of Greek Foreign Minister is the one with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, planned for Thursday, September 22.
FM Osmani alongside PM Dimitar Kovachevski is to attend the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly from Sept. 19-24 in New York.
FM’s office issued a statement on Sunday saying that Osmani will take part in the Transatlantic EU-NATO Foreign Ministers dinner, the US-Adriatic Charter A5 meeting, the meeting organized by the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) and the Regional Cooperation Council, as well as the Central European Initiative (CEI) meeting and other important international cooperation forums.
On the sidelines of the UNGA "he will hold numerous bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the EU member states and OSCE participating and partner countries, in the context of North Macedonia’s OSCE chairmanship, as well as with senior officials from the US State Department, and he will take the opportunity to meet our diaspora members.”
