No issues during voting of sick, frail, COVID-19 patients, inmates
Skopje, 30 October 2021 (MIA) – The voting of the sick, frail, COVID-19 patients, inmates and people in nursing homes in the second round of the local elections is taking place uninterrupted and problem-free, State Election Commission spokesperson Ljupka Gugchevska told a press conference on Saturday. A total of 7,645 voters have a right to cast their ballot on Saturday. 1,409 inmate can vote in 14 prisons, from 7 am until 7 pm. 5,588 sick and frail people, as well as those on house arrest  and 376 people infected with COVID-19 or isolating can also vote. Moreover, 266 voters are in institutions for out-of-family care and six are recorded as internally displaced persons. 1,598 observers, including 1,220 domestic and 368 foreign, as well as ten foreign journalists have been accredited by the SEC to monitor the runoff. Guguchevska briefed that additional training for using biometric identification equipment has been held, adding that the SEC has taken on 400 tech experts to assist in overcoming possible voting issues. She reiterated that voters can contact the SEC via the telephone number 0800 555 44, as well as 076 488 360 for voters with sight, hearing and speech impairments. Information regarding the election is also posted on SEC’s website www.sec.mk, as well as its social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and its Youtube channel.
