Vlen resumes on path of change, says Mexhiti after Taravari's Government exit

Skopje, 13 May 2025 (MIA) - Democratic Movement leader Izet Mexhiti says Vlen continues on the path of change after one of the coalition's leaders, Arben Taravari, announced that the Alliance of Albanians (AA) would leave the Government.

Mexhiti wrote in a Facebook post that Taravari did not leave the Government but betrayed it.

"You did not bring about change. You are not returning to the people, you are returning to the black list. You are not leaving the Government, you betrayed it," says Mexhiti.

According to him, Tararavari is a disappointment for every Albanian "who voted for change".

"Vlen continues on the path of change. We welcome all activists, followers and voters who feel betrayed, deceived and left behind," says Mexhiti.

AA leader and outgoing health minister Arben Taravari said late Monday the party is leaving the government coalition to go into opposition.

Taravari told a press conference after a meeting of the party leadership that AA's members had shaken up the ethnic Albanian bloc "after 20 years and we are very proud of that."

"Unfortunately, however, we did not deliver on the changes we had promised. That is why we have decided to go back to the citizens and ask for their trust at the local elections in October," he said.
