Voter turnout in presidential elections 38% by 2 p.m. in Brussels

Brussels, 23 April 2024 (MIA) - Voting for the presidential elections at polling station 5003 within the Macedonian Embassy in Brussels kicked off Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. and is proceeding without any irregularities, Leonard Marku, the president of the election board at this polling station, told MIA.

A total of 93 Macedonian citizens living and working in Belgium and Luxembourg have registered to vote at the polling station in the Embassy in Brussels.

Marku stated that by 2 p.m., 36 of the registered voters had turned out to vote, representing a turnout of slightly over 38.7 percent.

"This is a solid number. Considering that today is a working day in Belgium, and taking into account that voting will continue until 7 p.m., we expect that number to increase in the afternoon,” Marku said.

Furthermore, since the start of this year, more than 1,100 Macedonian citizens have filed requests for passport replacements with the country's old name at the Embassy in Brussels.
