VMRO-DPMNE to resume active blockade of Parliament after summer recess

VMRO-DPMNE to resume active blockade of Parliament after summer recess
Skopje, 30 August 2022 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE’s parliamentary group will continue its active blockade of Parliament, but will not block legislation of interest to the citizens, the party whip or other representatives of the party will not attend parliamentary coordination meetings with Speaker Talat Xhaferi, VMRO-DPMNE’s parliamentary whip, Nikola Micevski, told MIA on Tuesday. In Parliament, the opposition will demand information on the money spent by institutions in relation to the state of crisis. Micevski did not attend Tuesday’s first coordination meeting with Xhaferi and his colleagues from the other parliamentary groups after Parliament’s recess came to an end. He explained his absence by claiming the Parliamentary Speaker does not stick to what is being agreed and changes his decisions based on agreements with representatives from the majority. “We see no reason to attend. What we agree at a coordination meeting one day, seems to become invalid the next day,” said Micevski. Before the summer recess, he emphasized, Xhaferi said that Parliament will finish working on July 28, but after blackmail from Alternative, Parliament ended up working on July 29. Once VMRO-DPMNE left the session they lacked the necessary number of MPs to adopt the things they agreed with Alternative, added Micevski pointing out that there are many such reasons why the opposition avoids the coordination meetings. When asked how they will coordinate the work of Parliament and whether they have informal meetings with Xhaferi, Micevski said the chairs of the parliamentary committees and the MPs will coordinate among themselves. The VMRO-DPMNE parliamentary whip said he expects the session on constitutional judges to continue, and announced that the party will request information regarding the declaration of state of crisis, as well as reports on the spending of institutions. Micevski said they will react to all harmful legislation which would make private and secretive contracts possible. ad/ba/
