Skopje, 15 May 2025 (MIA) – Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani welcomed Thursday morning the European Council President António Costa, who is visiting the country. Costa is currently holding a meeting with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski at the Government, followed by a joint press conference.
"This morning, I had the honour, in my capacity as Minister of European Affairs, to welcome the President of the European Council, António Costa, who is on his first official visit to the country. We then headed to the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia for a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, where discussion will focus on advancing the European agenda," Murtezani shared on Facebook.
He added that in his conversation with Costa, he had the opportunity to see that the President of the European Council came with a message of support and encouragement, affirming that the future of the region lies within the European Union.
"I also reaffirmed, on behalf of the Government, that European integration is not just a strategic objective, but a commitment to shared values," Murtezani said.
Before arriving in Skopje, Costa visited Belgrade and Sarajevo. His visit to the region is intended to reaffirm the EU's commitment to the region, and the prospect of the Western Balkan countries' integration in the EU.
