Skopje, 5 July 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska held a meeting Wednesday with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in North Macedonia, Rossana Dudziak, and UNICEF Representative Patrizia DiGiovanni, during which they discussed the current cooperation between the UN organizations and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, said the Ministry in a press release. 

At the meeting, Trenchevska noted that the UN Agencies are providing their support over key issues that are a part of the Ministry’s competencies such as child protection, family values and gender equality. The Labor Minister explained the current situation in the country regarding the draft-law on gender equality and the draft-law on registries. She informed that the draft-law on registries has been withdrawn from procedure since March 2022, while the law on gender equality, according to the Minister, has thus far been discussed at 18 public discussions and is part of an ongoing consultations process.

UN Resident Coordinator Dudziak stated that the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy has the full support when it comes to the promotion of human rights which also include the issue of gender equality.
