Andonovski: Adoption of cybersecurity law demonstrates our responsibility in dealing with hybrid threats

Skopje, 13 May 2025 (MIA) - The adoption of the Law on Cybersecurity demonstrates our responsibility in dealing with hybrid threats, said Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski in his address Tuesday at the ministerial panel of the Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building (GC3B) in Switzerland.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Andonovski stressed that the adoption of the first Law on Cybersecurity in the country and the recently adopted National Cyber Strategy represent key steps towards strengthening the institutional and technological resilience to hybrid threats and digital risks.

“We didn’t approach the building of cyber capacities as a technological issue only, but as an issue of national development. That meant that three things had to be done: the integration of cybersecurity as an indispensable aspect in the broader context of digital transformation; secondly, a broad institutional positioning in the adoption of key policies – ensuring no one feels alienated and that this is a law and strategy for all of us; and thirdly, the inclusion of the private sector and the international community, not on the basis of a one-time project, but as partners,” Andonovski said.

The Minister said that “a small but determined country such as Macedonia” needs a systemic approach instead of fragmentation.

“These measures refer not only to the improvement of national security, but also the accelerated adaptation of the economy to the digital era, which will make the country better prepared for future global challenges,” Andonovski stressed.
