Trenchevska: Anti-crisis measures not serving election purposes, adopted in support of citizens

Skopje, 30 November 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Jovanka Trenchevska, said Thursday the anti-crisis measures adopted by the Government are not used for pre-election purposes, but are in support of the citizens at a time when the consequences of the energy and price crises are still being felt.

“These 26 measures that are a part of the ninth set of anti-crisis measures weren’t adopted as part of an election campaign, but for the citizens, for the youth, for businesses and for the public administration. This set of anti-crisis measures will include almost 440.000 people, especially vulnerable categories of citizens, young people, primary and secondary school students, university, students, welfare recipients, and pensioners with low pensions,” said Trenchevska in answer to a journalist’s question.

Trenchevska noted that in December last year as well, when, she said, the country was far from elections, a law on financial assistance for vulnerable citizens was adopted as well.

“This year too, a new set of anti-crisis measures was adopted, and once again a law will be adopted for the implementation of the measures,” she said.

According to the Minister, when it comes to the measures that the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy is in charge of won’t require the citizens to apply, and the assistance will be paid out based on the information of the institutions. Trenchevska added that information will be published in the coming period over the way in which students will be able to apply for the aid.
