SSO says census takers will visit every household, urges patience
Skopje, 23 September 2021 (MIA) - The 2021 Population and Housing Census is nearing its end. Census workers are visiting households and making sure no one is left out, the State Statistical Office (SSO) said in a press release on Thursday. The SSO called on citizens to be patient, underling that census takers will visit every household. “We’d like to remind citizens that they should check census workers’ credentials and let in only those who have been authorized to conduct counting by the State Statistical Office. We’d also like to remind them that census information are collected strictly for statistical purposes and will be published as aggregated data. No one has access to personal data, which will be analyzed through an automated process,” read the release. The SSO underlined that data confirmations have never and will never be issued in regard to the census or any other research conducted by the institution, which entails collection of personal information. “The answers to sensitive questions, such as ethnicity, religion, mother tongue, etc. are personal and neither census workers, nor anybody else, can interfere in them. Census workers are obliged to allow citizens to watch them enter data. Moreover, citizens have the right to report attempts at pressure on any ground,” the SSO noted. It called on citizens not to give in to provocations and pressures and provide the information that’s asked of them. “Let’s wrap the process up. It’s in our best interest and its success depends on all of us,” the press release read.
