Skopje, 11 November 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi and Secretary General Marina Dimovska met Monday with Robert Scott Heaslet, Senior Resident Director for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) in North Macedonia, and organization representatives Slagjana Panovska and Edip Bilal, highlighting the events and projects that were implemented in the past few months in the Parliament.

The events hosted by NDI and the Parliamentary Support Program included observances of International Democracy Day, World Teachers' Day, and the parliamentary Hackathon, the Parliament said in a press release.

Interlocutors exchanged views and ideas about possible next joint steps towards raising the capacities of the legislature, especially in areas that are part of its Strategic Plan.

They discussed possibilities for strengthening the Parliament's supervisory role, further strengthening the capacities of the parliamentary staff, and enhancement of the new website.

The Parliament's new ICT strategy was also discussed, which is in the initial stage of preparation, and the steps undertaken for gaining full independence of the institution through an independent security service, reads the press release. ssh/ik/
