Skopje, 24 April 2024 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE's presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska Davkova voted Wednesday in the first round of the presidential elections.
"Make the right choice, compare not only programs, but also what was happening. I was an MP and the incumbent President was the President, so I think you can easily make a decision," said Siljanovska Davkova after voting.
According to her, citizens know who to vote for and know how to exercise their right to vote.
"If I win, and I believe I will certainly qualify for the presidential runoff, I believe that what I saw from yesterday's results is a good public indicator," Siljanovska Davkova said.
She wished everyone success, adding that the system is strange and that the country is a rare case with a 40 percent electoral threshold in a presidential runoff of a parliamentary system.
"For the next elections, I believe we should apply the recommendations made by the Venice Commission and OSCE/ODIHR on removing the electoral threshold of 40 percent in the runoff. Such a threshold not only requires negotiations and discussions, but also enables blackmail and bargaining, and I am against political bargaining," Siljanovska Davkova stressed. ssh/nn/
