Kovachevski in Radovish: Upcoming elections not only decide who will lead the country, but also path the country will take

Radovish, 2 May 2024 (MIA) - SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski told a rally in Radovish on Thursday that the upcoming elections will not only decide who will lead the country, but also the path the country will take. Whether it will continue firmly on the European path or become hostage of an authoritarian state again.

He added that there were lapses in SDSM's work in the past difficult seven years.

"I know the citizens are dissatisfied with inflation, with the fight against corruption, with the arbitrariness of certain politicians, members of our coalition, who have made their personal profession out of party and ethnic affiliation, thereby ruining the reputation of the Government. The punishment for that arrived on April 24, a punishment that I and my fellow members from SDSM and the Coalition for European Future accepted with dignity, because the citizens have the right to send a strong message and they did. But I appeal and invite each of you to think carefully about how you will vote on May 8," said Kovachevski.

According to him, the main goals of their program are fast, efficient and successful negotiations with the EU, because only in this way could a much higher standard of living for citizens, a much more effective fight against corruption and crime, and much better education and health be ensured.

He believes that a right-wing government led by VMRO DPMNE can easily disrupt inter-ethnic relations in the country.

"Instead of a competition of ideas and projects, Mickoski and Siljanovska Davkova turned the election campaign into nationalist chants and bickering with DUI leader Ali Ahmeti. Send a clear message to Ahmeti and Mickoski and Siljanovska Davkova, that no citizen wants to go back to 20 years ago, that we don't want inter-ethnic tensions to flare up again. Send them this message on May 8, because this is the only way we will show them that Macedonia has progressive and intelligent people, who want a European future, instead of returning to a past of conflicts and wars and saving the careers of Ali Ahmeti and Hristijan Mickoski and Siljanovska Davkova," the SDSM leader said.

List principle in the fourth election district Venko Filipche told SDSM members that unity is now needed more than ever, urging them to find the strength to work together for a dignified election result.

List co-principal in the fourth election district Jovanka Trenchevska pointed out that the country's European perspective has been SDSM's guide, and urged citizens not to punish the country because of certail officials who have made mistakes.

MP candidates Simona Cvetanovski and Enes Ibrahim also addressed the rally in Radovish on Thursday.
